In addition to their own Discovery Plot data, your Federated Agronomists gather data from other reliable sources, and one that proves insightful year over year are results from the Croplan® Winfield United® Answer Plots®

Your agronomists take time to weigh results carefully before giving you recommendations. Brent Wink, sales development manager with Winfield United/Land O’Lakes, offered some helpful perspectives on the Answer Plot results. He grouped his analysis by hybrid maturity days.

In the 80-day category, he said, “2180VT2 has been a very reliable product from our lineup for a few years and I like the consistency over 2288.” Showing up as a “hot” new hybrid again this year was 2324VT2. He said, “I really like how consistent they were at every plot.”

For the 85-day category, Wink said, “2585SS is really a great corn-on-corn option; the SS version has always performed well and shows very little noise from the trait,” adding that “the old 2845 genetics are a nice price point play and certainly a great dual-purpose choice.”

For 90-day seed, Wink highlighted that this category is “clearly the strength of the Croplan portfolio.”  He said, “3899VT2 is a ‘freak’ in the industry—we joke that we might just give it a new number and re-release it.” This hybrid “really rocks” with fungicide, he said, and it is a great dual purpose option too and incredible grain yields.

“Croplan 3790VT2 and 3724VT2 are both complimenting us at this [90-day] maturity as well,” with consistent yields, he said; 3724VT2 gives even better stalks than 3899. Under irrigation, 3790VT2 will be one of the top, while 3724VT2 can handle every acre. In central MN and western WI, 3519SS might be one of the best corn-on-corn varieties for the area. “We really like how it looks at harvest and it delivers big time yields,” he said.

And for 100-day seed, he said, “3899VT2 can definitely run in this late set, but this maturity is where we lean heavy on the partners.”
